Srinagar, Oct 7: An application has been filed in the Supreme Court of India, urging the judiciary to direct the Central government to restore statehood to J&K within two months.

The applicant states that despite the assurance given by the Solicitor General that J&K’s statehood will be restored, the union government has not taken any steps in this regard in the last 11 months after the judgment in the Article 370 case.

“Non-restoration of J&K’s statehood violates the basic feature of federalism, says the applicant,” Live Law reported.

The applicant said that the assembly polls were held peacefully and it shows that there was no impediment in restoring statehood.
