Philippines President Ferdinand Marcos Jr to visit India from August 4–8
New Delhi, Jul 31: At the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr of the Philippines will undertake his first official State Visit to India from August 4 to 8, 2025. He will be accompanied by First Lady Louise Araneta Marcos, several Cabinet Ministers, senior officials, and business representatives. During his visit, President Marcos is scheduled to hold bilateral talks with Prime Minister Modi on August 5.
He will also meet President Droupadi Murmu and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar. Before concluding his visit, the Philippine leader will travel to Bengaluru.
This visit marks President Marcos’s first trip to India since taking office and comes as the two countries commemorate 75 years of diplomatic ties, which were established in November 1949. India and the Philippines have built strong cooperation across multiple sectors including trade, defence, maritime security, healthcare, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, and digital technology. Both nations also collaborate closely in regional forums, particularly under India’s Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with ASEAN. President Marcos’s visit is expected to reinforce bilateral ties and further deepen India’s engagement with Southeast Asia, in line with its ‘Act East’ policy, Vision MAHASAGAR, and broader Indo-Pacific outlook.
