PHIA Foundation organises training programme on sustainable farming

Srinagar, Feb 29:  PhIA Foundation with support from HDFC Bank Parivartan, unveiled Project-HIMALAYA which focuses on sustainable farming techniques and economic empowerment, on Thursday and organised a one-day training cum exposure visit to the renowned Defence Institute of High Altitude Research (DIHAR), Leh Ladakh.

The training session, attended by 86 enthusiastic farmers hailing from various project villages within the Kharu, Thiksey, and Chuchot blocks, was a resounding success. Participants were equipped with invaluable knowledge of organic cultivation, innovative vegetable farming techniques in polycarbonate greenhouses, and the intricacies of value chain development for milk and vegetables. Technical experts from DIHAR shared their expertise, leaving the farmers inspired and empowered to implement diverse farming techniques. Their feedback underscored immense satisfaction with the training program, expressing confidence in the potential to significantly boost their farm income over the next three years.
