PHE daily wagers seeks regularisation

Srinagar, Mar 5: Scores of PHE (Jal Shakti) department daily wagers appealed PM Modi to fulfill their regularisation demand ahead of his Kashmir visit.

To press for their long pending demand, PHE daily wagers held a press conference in Srinagar on Tuesday to highlight their grievances.

In the press conference, Sajad Parray, Chairman of Kashmir PHE Joint Employees Association said that the issue of 61000 daily wagers in various departments including PHE is a long-standing one.

“This issue has been lingering for a long time now. In this regard, successive governments have formed several commissions and committees. The committees have furnished their recommendations and declared this issue as a human and social issue,” Parray said

He said a committee formed by the BJP unit Jammu and Kashmir met with the daily wagers in both the provinces of Jammu and Kashmir and also submitted a report with firm recommendations and road map to the government.

He added that on a daily basis, the daily wages from departments like PDD, PHE and others are losing their lives while working for the welfare of people but they are being neglected.

“We have worked in floods, turmoil and COVID and given our best despite meager salaries. We are still awaiting decent salaries and regularisation.”

They said that a peaceful protest will be held under the banner of Kashmir PHE Joint Employees Association on March 9 at Chief Office Rajbagh to press for their demands.
