PHDCCI Kashmir seeks policy push, credit support in meeting with MSME Secy
Srinagar, Jul 25: A delegation from the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI) Kashmir, led by A.P. Vicky Shaw, met with S.C.L. Das, Secretary, Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Government of India, in Srinagar to discuss strategies for strengthening the MSME sector in Jammu and Kashmir.
The PHDCCI delegation presented a comprehensive set of recommendations aimed at creating an enabling ecosystem for MSMEs in the region. Key proposals included strict implementation of the public procurement policy to support local units, enhanced budgetary support under the New Central Sector Scheme (NCSS), and inclusion of handicraft and handloom traders in MSME marketing assistance schemes.
PHDCCI also called for expanding the PM Vishwakarma Scheme to benefit J&K’s artisan communities, reviewing the RAMP scheme to better address rehabilitation of distressed MSMEs, and fast-tracking the development of infrastructure under the MSE-CDP Scheme.
Other critical issues raised included prioritised land allotment for industrial units, a logistics and warehousing policy for Kashmir, and a diagnostic study of sick units to facilitate targeted revival.
A.P. Vicky Shaw thanked Secretary Das and Commissioner Secretary Vikramjit Singh for their responsive engagement and reiterated PHDCCI’s commitment to partnering with the government for inclusive and sustainable industrial growth in Jammu & Kashmir.
The meeting concluded with assurances from the MSME Ministry to actively consider the delegation’s recommendations for policy and infrastructure interventions in the region.
