PHDCCI Kashmir holds review meeting of IPFC to boost IPR awareness, support for MSMEs
Srinagar, June 15: The PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI), through its Intellectual Property Facilitation Centre (IPFC) in Jammu and Kashmir, held a strategic review meeting for the Kashmir region at the Branch-MSME Development and Facilitation Office (DFO), Srinagar, under the Ministry of MSME, Government of India.
During the session, Iqbal Fayaz Jan, Incharge PHDCCI IPFC-J&K, apprised the Assistant Director about the centre's outreach and impact. He shared that the IPFC has extended Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) services to over 151 MSMEs in the Kashmir region. These services include not only assistance with IP registration but also mentorship, brand-building guidance, and business advisory support, all contributing to the development of the region’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.
Engineer Saheel Yaqoob Allaqaband underscored the importance of expanding the initiative's scope, especially in the areas of design registration and Geographical Indications (GI) promotion. He called for district-wide outreach programs to ensure broader participation of entrepreneurs and business innovators.
The meeting outlined plans to conduct extensive awareness campaigns across all districts of Kashmir, with a special focus on educating startups and new-age businesses about the strategic value of IPR in building brand equity and improving market competitiveness.
