The MRI machine was having problems with the MRI Chiller. MRI Chiller is important as it helps to maintain the cold head of MRI machine which in turn maintains the Helium level which is required to cool and check the magnet pressure. All this is important for smooth running of MRI machine. Few days back one of the compressors of MRI chiller and few relay switches got non-functional resulting in stopping the MRI machine, the statement said.
Today Siemens Engineer replaced the compressor and relay switches and made MRI machine functional. The Siemens Company had been asking for rates for maintenance contract which had to be negotiated, the statement added.
Fresh Comprehensive maintenance contract for said machine will be issued within two days which will make machine functional for next five years. Further, more process for procurement of new MRI is going on and would be procured soon, it further added.
The PETCT machine which was undergoing repairs and maintenance for the last two weeks and was not working has been repaired and started functioning from last week fully. All those patients who have been waiting for their scans are being contacted telephonically by the department as per the serial number, the hospital authorities in a statement held.
