Jammu, Oct 22: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha Tuesday reiterated that the “perpetrators of dastardly act would have to pay a very heavy price, very soon with the security forces fully geared up to eliminate them and defeat all despicable and frustrated attempts of the neighbour.”

In an oblique reference to the Gagangeer terror act, he stated this, while addressing the illustrious gathering at the University of Jammu during the international conference on “Endocrinology, Metabolism and Reproduction: Exploring New Frontiers.”

“J&K has come a long way to achieve its objective to become self-reliant in every sector. For the past seven decades, J&K remained alienated as far as development mainstream was concerned. But in the past five years, it has been emerging as a synonym to accomplishments, development initiatives and success stories,” the Lieutenant Governor said.

“Now, J&K is mainly talked about for its tourism and not terrorism. A clear manifestation of the monumental change in scenario, we have just witnessed in the conduct of violence-free, peaceful and transparent J&K assembly elections. Following it, a democratically elected government has been constituted in J&K, strictly following the norms of the Indian Constitution and the existing law of land,” he stated.

In the same vein, LG Sinha said that this achievement had become an irritant for India’s neighbour (read Pakistan).

“However, I want to assert here that our neighbour does not appreciate democracy. Hence, it (neighbour), out of sheer frustration, has again started indulging in its despicable attempts (to disrupt peace). Our security forces, our Police are fully alert and ready to defeat all its designs. I reiterate that they (security forces) would make perpetrators (of dastardly acts) pay a very heavy price,” he said.

“We are trying to make “a terror-free and corruption-free” J&K, which is a synonym for “a transparent and responsive governance system.” I believe that the gains achieved in the past five years or so will gain further momentum,” he said.
