Perfect synergy between police, army lead to two successful operations in Kupwara: Police
Srinagar, August 29: Police on Thursday said that perfect synergy between Police and Army led to two successful operations resulting in killing of three militants in Karnah and Tangdhar areas of north Kashmir's Kupwara district.
In a handout, the police spokesperson said that a close vigil is being maintained and more thrust has been on developing human intelligence regarding infiltration attempts from LOC at Kupwara.
The police spokesman further stated that specific inputs were developed on 27/8/2024 about simultaneous infiltration attempts from Karnah sector and Kumkadi in Machil sector and were shared with concerned army units and joint ambushes of JKP and Army were deployed.
While at Kumkadi, suspicious movement was detected around 1930 hrs on 28/8/2024 shortly after which firing commenced which carried on till early morning on 29/8/2024, he said.
In the meanwhile suspicious movement was detected in Karnah sector around 2100 hrs on 28/8/2024 shortly after which firing commenced there as well which continued into early hours of 29/8/2024, he said.
Upon search conducted in the morning at both locations, two dead bodies were sighted at Kumkadi while one dead body was sighted at Karnah encounter site, he said.
Further search operations are ongoing, legal formalities are underway, he said.
It is also pertinent to mention that this is the 6th operation in District Kupwara this year which has now resulted in the total count of terrorists killed to 10 - all foreign terrorists, reads the statement.
