People seek basic amenities at Zachaldara tehsil headquarters
Kupwara, Nov 4: People in Zachaldara tehsil of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district have expressed resentment against authorities for failing to ensure basic amenities for common people at tehsil headquarter thus putting them into a lot of hardships.
Locals of the area said that Zachaldara tehsil being the headquarter for over hundred villages so large number of people every day visit different offices for redressal of their grievances. But lack of basic amenities including toilet facility, drinking water, passenger shed take a heavy toll on them.
“The women folk face most of the brunt with regard to lack of toilet facility and passenger shed at Zachaldara. Even Zachaldara lacks a stand for cabs with the result drivers park their vehicles on main roads resulting in usual traffic jams,” Bilal Rashid, a local said.
The residents said that a few years ago the government had approved a mini-secretariat for Zachaldara tehsil and for that demarcation of land was also carried out but due to unknown reasons the project did not see the light.
They said that with regard to lack of basic amenities, they have appealed to the concerned authorities numerous times but after the passage of over five years nothing has been done so far. Even PRI members from the area have failed to address the issue.
They have sought immediate intervention of MLA Handwara in this regard, so that the problems being faced by common people on a daily basis may end. Officials said they are looking into the matter.
