The organisers said that as harsh winters were ahead and many families were lacking basic things, they held this event for deserving families. During the event, the underprivileged families, elderly, and physically challenged were provided food kits, clothing, Kangris, and blankets under the mission Wushnare.
To help people earn their livelihood, many sewing machines were also distributed among females. The organisers said that the aim is to provide long term support for these families.

Chairman KWT, Manzoor Ahmad Wangnoo, said that they coordinated with various social workers, volunteers, and other NGOs and made a list of around 300 most deserving families and individuals from across Kashmir.

“We provided the best quality products for these families and introduced new items in their kits to make the best possible help for these people,” Wangnoo said.
“We have chosen the most deserving families and this time we made students participate in the event so that they can get trained in such programs. With our collaboration with other NGOs, we framed the best kits which have food products, clothes, and other winter-related equipment. This year, we also gave away solar lights so that families can get much-needed help,” Wangnoo said.

Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon, who was the chief guest at the event praised the organisers for the initiative. He said that such initiatives are a welcome step that will provide much-needed help to these families.

“The event's focus has been that most deserving families and physically challenged people benefitted. These initiatives are the need of the hour, and by collaborations between the government and such organizations, help can be lent out to the most deserving people,” Samoon said. ‘People need to join hands for helping downtrodden families’

Private School Association president GN Var, while praising the initiative, said that amid the economic issues faced by society, the poor are in need of such initiatives. He said that by collaborating with government and non-government organisations, people can benefit a lot.

“Such initiatives can become the guiding light for others. Most people are living below the poverty line, and they require basic things which were distributed today. If people join hands together, we can do such programs on a large scale and help as many people as possible,” Var said.
