He said that people are the real power in democracy, but unfortunately they have been taken “for granted”.

“People are the real power in democracy, but it is unfortunate they have been taken for granted. They are the authority who can decide fate of a candidate in the elections. I appeal them to use their votes for a change, and give chance to a new leadership who will lead this helpless nation and bring it out from uncertain situation,” Bukhari as per Greater Kashmir told reporters during his reach-out program in Chanapora Assembly segment.

While responding to a query over rejection of a nomination form of a jailed Sarjan Barkati by authorities, Bukhari said the legal luminaries should have been reached to his home and guided his family about formalities. “Our advocates should have been reached to Sarjan Barkati’s family, and guide them how to fill a form so that it would not have been rejected,” he added.
