People demand establishment of fire service station at Langate
The residents of Langate in north Kashmir's Kupwara district expressed strong resentment on Sunday against the authorities for failing to establish a fire service station in the area.
They stated that Langate comprises dozens of villages with a population of thousands but has been deprived of this basic and fundamental need.
Residents noted that the nearest fire station is located in Handwara, and during any fire incident, they must wait for fire tenders to reach the scene.
Firdous Ahmad, a local youth, told Greater Kashmir that they have approached successive administrations for the establishment of a fire service station in Langate numerous times, but to no avail.
He stated that Langate, being a Tehsil headquarters, has been left without a fire service station, which he considers unjust for the people of Langate.
The residents have appealed to the Director General of Fire Services in Jammu and Kashmir to establish a fire service station in Langate so that their genuine grievances can be addressed.
