Kupwara, Dec 14: Residents of Ashpora and adjoining areas in Kupwara district have urged the health authorities to provide an ambulance service at the New Type Primary Health Centre (NTPHC) Ashpora, saying the absence of the facility has been causing serious hardships, especially during medical emergencies.

Locals said that the ambulance, earlier stationed at the health centre developed a technical snag nearly three years ago and was sent to Srinagar for repairs, but no replacement has been provided so far. As a result, patients requiring referral to higher health facilities are forced to rely on private cabs to reach the Associated District Hospital (ADH) GMC Handwara.

Residents said they have repeatedly taken up the issue with the concerned authorities but have received no response. They have once again appealed to the Director of Health Services Kashmir to intervene and ensure that an ambulance is stationed at NTPHC Ashpora without further delay.
