PDP brought J&K out of turmoil, ended gun culture: Mehbooba Mufti
Rajouri, May 3: PDP President Mehbooba Mufti said that her party during its rule brought Jammu and Kashmir out of turmoil and ended the gun culture.
She also stated that Jammu and Kashmir being mini-India clearly represents the secular fabric of the country. Mehbooba was addressing a road show in Budhal area of Rajouri.
She led the road show as a part of campaign for Lok Sabha elections for Anantnag- Rajouri parliamentary seat from where she is contesting as PDP candidate. "India is based on secular fabric and Jammu and Kashmir clearly represents it and thus it is mini – India,"PDP President said
She said that people from all religions and walks of life live jointly in Jammu and Kashmir areas and that too in every nook and corner." Jammu and Kashmir is a Muslim majority people but people from all religions live here that too in a joint atmosphere," Mehbooba said.
Appealing people to vote for her on May 25, when Anantnag-Rajouri parliamentary seat will go for voting, she said that she is campaigning on the basis of work done by Peoples Democratic Party and not on the basis of religion and caste as is done by some other political parties.
She further claimed that PDP has done a lot of work in Jammu and Kashmir and fulfilled the aspirations of people. "We did a lot of work during three years of government but it is also true that a lot of work is yet to be done as three years are not enough," she said.
President of PDP added that it is her party and its founder Mufti Mohammad Sayeed who brought Jammu and Kashmir out of turmoil and gun culture and started an era of prosperity.
" In J&K there was gun culture and situation was such that a man could not move on road without an identity card and it was Peoples Democratic Party that brought J&K out of this situation,." she said adding that to boost the economy of state, many reformative steps were taken that even included opening of border routes.
Mehbooba stated that if elected she will advocate the issues and problems of people in highest democratic institution (parliament).
