PDL employees in Sumbal face dire time due to pending wages

The employees have also made a representation to Managing Director Kashmir Power Development Corporation Limited through Sonawari Citizen Council.

Bandipora, June 15: The Power Distribution Limited (PDL) workers in Sumbal Sonawari division of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district are finding themselves in dire straits as they are struggling without pay for months.

The Sonawari Citizens Council told Greater Kashmir it has received numerous representations from PDL workers in the Power Development Department division in Sumbal about the issue.

“These dedicated employees have not been paid their monthly wages for an extended period,” president Sonawari citizen Council Nazir Ahamd said.

The employees have also made a representation to Managing Director Kashmir Power Development Corporation Limited through Sonawari Citizen Council.

“The situation has worsened as their families have virtually faced starvation and they are forced to take heavy loans from the market,” the letter to the corporation reads.

It says, “since they are not in a position to liquidate the same and nobody is ready to give them more credit.”

“The situation has worsened more in view of the holy festival of Eid-ul-fitr,” the letter further reads. Now “it is requested that the salaries of these PDL workers working in PDD Division Sumbal be released immediately on a priority basis so that the employees enjoy Eid with their families.”
