Pattan hit-n-run case solved; vehicle seized, driver arrested
Baramulla, Nov 27: Baramulla Police have solved a hit and run case which claimed the life of a Pattan resident last week in Pattan area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
The deceased pedestrian was identified as Nazir Ahmad Sofi, resident of Saderbal Palhallan. The incident had occurred near Parsa’s Restaurant in Palhallan.
Police have arrested the erring driver and identified him as Ahmad Parray, resident of Bun Zanigam, Budgam and seized the vehicle involved in the hit and run case. While giving details of the case, the SDPO, Pattan, Shahjan Ahmad said, that on November 15, Police Post Palhallan received information about a hit-and-run incident involving an unidentified vehicle running on Srinagar-Baramulla highway.
He said acting on the information, a case vide FIR No. 314/2024 under sections 281, 125A, and 106 BNS was registered at Police Station Pattan, and further investigation was initiated.
The SDPO said, “With meticulous tracking and technical assistance, the vehicle involved in the incident was traced in Budgam, bearing registration number JK04J 0917, and was seized on November 26.”
“The vehicle bore visible hit marks and had been freshly painted white, to conceal the evidence,” added SDPO.
