Udhampur, Sep 11: MLA Udhampur East, Ranbir Singh Pathania, on Thursday hoped that the Prime Minister’s upcoming visit to Jammu and Kashmir would bring relief and support to the people affected by recent rain-induced floods and related calamities.

He assured that all households affected by recent floods, whether totally, severely, or partially damaged, would be provided compensation. The BJP MLA also announced that sector-wise financial outlays would soon be sought from Union Ministers to address the damage to public infrastructure.

While conducting an extensive tour of several villages in his constituency, Pathania reiterated that serving the public and standing with them during times of distress was both a duty and a moral responsibility.

He stated, “We firmly believe in reaching out to every distressed and traumatised family in this hour of crisis. It is our Karma and Dharma to serve the public.” He assured that restoration and strengthening of damaged infrastructure, including roads, buildings, electricity lines, and water supply systems, would be undertaken to ensure resilience against future weather-related disasters.

Pathania directed the police and revenue departments to ensure that affected individuals were not unnecessarily burdened by repeated visits to government offices. Reports from chowkidars and lambardars should be acted upon promptly, and relief cases should be filed without delay. He urged the public to actively report damages to public infrastructure in their areas and take ownership, as such losses posed significant challenges for communities in the times ahead.

He further remarked, “Justice should not only be done but must also be seen to be done. In these trying times, it is crucial that we reach out to everyone in need.”

Pathania shared that estimates for permanent restoration of clogged roads would be sent soon, with provisions for further damages expected in the coming week.

Local leaders, including Mohan Lal Sharma, Ashish Sharma (Mandal Pradhans), Bishan, Om Prakash, Ashok Singh, Surinder Singh, Nisha Rani, Romesh Gupta, Raman Khajuria, Manoj Verma, Kuldip Singh, Sunit Singh (all sarpanches), Shiv Ram, and others, joined the MLA during the tour.
