Passport Seva portal to remain down for maintenance for 5 days
Srinagar, Aug 29: The Passport Seva portal will be temporarily unavailable for five days due to a scheduled maintenance exercise, the government announced on Thursday.
The portal will be down from 8:00 PM IST on August 29, 2024, until 6:00 AM IST on September 2, 2024. During this period, citizens will not be able to schedule new appointments, and previously booked appointments for August 30 will be rescheduled and communicated to applicants.
This maintenance is a routine procedure, according to the Ministry of External Affairs, ensuring the smooth operation of public-centric services like Passport Seva Kendras. The ministry has contingency plans in place to minimize inconvenience to the public, reported Srinagar based news agency Kashmir Dot Com.
The Passport Seva portal is widely used for scheduling appointments at designated centers across India for new passport applications or renewals. After the appointment, applicants must undergo document verification, followed by police verification, before receiving their passport. The service offers a regular mode, where passports are delivered within 30-45 working days, and a Tatkaal mode, for faster processing.
