Pashmina stakeholders meet held at SKUAST-K

Srinagar, May 25:   The Joint Secretary, Prajakta L Verma, Ministry of Textiles, GoI held an interactive meet with Pashmina stakeholders at SKUAST-Kashmir.

The programme was organised by Division of Livestock Products Technology, FVSc & AH, SKUAST-K. The meet was attended by Vice Chancellor Prof. Nazir Ahmad Ganie SKUAST-K, Executive Director CWDB, G. S. Bhatti, S.P Verma, Secretary Textile Committee, Prof. Haroon R. Naik, Director Research, Prof. M. T. Banday, Dean, FVSc & AH, HoD’s & Pashmina Stakeholders.

During the meet, the Joint Secretary had a healthy interaction with the Pashmina stakeholders who raised few issue affecting the Pashmina Industry. The Joint Secretary appraised them about the initiative taken by the Ministry to address the issues. Vice Chancellor, Prof. Nazir Ahmad Ganie, SKUAST-K, while sharing the contribution of SKUAST-Kashmir in upliftment of pashmina sector informed the stakeholders about the facilities of pashmina testing available at Shuhama Campus. Dr. T K Raut Textile committee also gave a presentation about the anticipated “Pashmina Mark” and desired to have feed backs from stakeholders. Smt. Prajakta Verma was on her two-day visit to Kashmir, wherein she also visited the Animal fibre Quality Assurance Laboratory, SKUAST-Kashmir.
