New Delhi, Feb 6: The Lok Sabha, which resumed on Friday after a day of repeated adjournments, was again triggered by protests and sloganeering for the fifth day running, disrupting the proceedings, forcing the speaker to once again adjourn the house till Monday. The Motion of Thanks on the President’s address was passed by voice vote on Thursday. Since the start of the week, Lok Sabha proceedings have largely remained stalled as Opposition members, including Congress MPs, continued protests over Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi not being allowed to speak in the House.

Earlier in the day, Lok Sabha proceedings were disrupted soon after the general discussion on the Union Budget 2026–27 began, prompting the Speaker to suspend the House briefly before adjourning it till Monday as protests continued. Outside Parliament, Opposition MPs staged demonstrations against the India–US trade agreement, with Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra joining the protest. The Budget Session consists of 30 sittings spread over 65 days and will conclude on April 2. Both Houses will adjourn for a recess on February 13 and reconvene on March 9.
