“This will be a six-lane flyover that will give commuters huge respite. It will also ease out traffic plying on the highway there. This will be an over 100 Crore rupees project that will prove to be vital for easing the traffic. We have already completed two major flyovers at Bemina and Nowgam, and we will ensure that this flyover will be completed without any delay,” Ahmad said.

SSP Traffic (Srinagar) Muzaffar Ahmad Shah said that once completed, the flyover will ease out traffic coming from North and central Kashmir.

“There is a huge influx of traffic coming to these junctions from HMT, Budgam, Ganderbal, Bandipora, and Leh, too. These are one of the most complex junctions, and such a project will prove to be very helpful to ease the traffic from Baramulla as well. Then there is local traffic that has increase in past decade in these Srinagar areas, this will help there too,” Shah said.

Officials said that many projects, including roads and flyovers, are in progress and some are also in the pipeline, and they will change the traffic scenario across Kashmir, particularly Srinagar.
