Srinagar, Feb 4: Paras Health  Superspeciality Hospital Srinagar today organised cancer awareness programme with doctors holding an interaction session with patients.

“At Paras Health Srinagar we celebrated Umeed Ke Sitare, honouring the strength of fighters and survivors. At Paras Health Superspeciality Hospital, our expert oncologists take a holistic approach—offering advanced oncology care, interventional oncology, pain management, and palliative care to ensure comprehensive treatment,” Paras Health Srinagar said in a statement.

“Many cancers are preventable like tobacco products related cancer,” it said.   The statement said so far 1917 cancer cases have been treated, 415 surgeries performed, 1424+ chemotherapy sessions provided. “Early detection is key, early detection saves lives. Let’s walk together towards a healthier future. Our commitment goes beyond treatment. We organised educational events to spread awareness, free screenings for early detection, motivational sessions with fighters, survivor celebrations to honour resilience,” it added.

Dr Sheikh Zahoor Ahmad, Associate Director Surgical Oncology at Paras Health Srinagar, stated, “Cancer is no longer just an age-related disease; we are diagnosing an increasing number of younger patients, particularly those in their 40s and 50s. With advancements in early detection and treatment, many cancers are now curable. The key challenge is raising awareness—people need to understand that timely intervention can significantly improve survival rates.” On the occasion, Paras Health launched a quit smoking campaign. More than 200 people participated in the cancer awareness talk.
