Pandemonium continues over Waq Bill as Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly witnesses second adjournment
Jammu, April 07: J&K Legislative Assembly Monday faced a second adjournment within 27 minutes after it reassembled.
As the House reassembled at 10.42 am after 15 minutes of adjournment, chaotic scenes intensified with NC, Congress and PDP members, along with Independents trying to enter the well. They were also seen tearing papers and tossing them around.
Some protesting members rose on desks amid sloganeering "Waqf Bill Wapis Karo", "BJP Ki Taanashahi Nahin Chalegi" while BJP members raised counter slogans in protest.
During this disorder, Question Hour ended. Speaker A R Rather asked the members to go to their seats and tell him what they wanted.
NC's Nazir Gurezi said, "For us, our religion is supreme. We can sacrifice anything, even our lives for it. An assault is underway on our mosques, our religion. This is intolerable. We want nothing but discussion on Waqf Amendment Bill. If you don't allow discussion, we will not allow proceedings."
As the uproar persisted, the Speaker again adjourned the House for 20 minutes at 11.09 am in second adjournment of the day.
