Pakistan hasn’t learnt anything from its past: PM Modi

New Delhi, July 26: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during the 25th Kargil Vijay Diwas commemorations in Ladakh, strongly condemned terrorism, particularly targeting Pakistan's ongoing strategies.

“Pakistan has not learnt anything from its past and has continued to wage war in the garb of terrorism and proxy wars to stay relevant,” PM Modi said.

He said that the nefarious intentions of terrorists would never be fulfilled.

“Our bravehearts will trample all the terror attempts,” the PM said.

He said that Pakistan had consistently faced defeat in its attempts.

PM Modi also addressed the development in J&K and Ladakh, reiterating India’s resilience against challenges in these regions.

He said that August 5 would mark five years since the abrogation of Article 370, transforming J&K into a region of new dreams and progress.

The PM highlighted the region's advancements, including G20 meetings, infrastructure development, tourism growth, the reopening of cinema halls, and the resumption of Tazia processions after three decades.

“This heaven on earth is swiftly moving in the direction of peace and prosperity,” he said.

PM Modi paid homage to the soldiers who were killed in the line of duty during the Kargil War.

He attended the Shraddhanjali Samaroh and heard the Gaurav Gatha: Briefing on Kargil War by NCOs, and visited the Amar Sansmaran: Hut of Remembrance and the Veer Bhoomi.

Recalling his presence during the Kargil War, the PM praised the soldiers' courage and sacrifice, saying, “I salute the brave sons of the country who made the supreme sacrifice to protect the motherland.”

Addressing the Shraddhanjali Samaroh, he remarked on the significance of Kargil Vijay Diwas, saying, “Kargil Vijay Diwas reminds us that the sacrifices made for the nation are immortal.”

PM Modi emphasised the nation’s enduring gratitude towards its armed forces.

“The nation is forever indebted and deeply grateful to the mighty superheroes of our armed forces,” he said.

Reflecting on the Kargil War, the PM highlighted the victory’s significance, saying, “In Kargil, we not only won the war, we presented an incredible example of 'truth, restraint, and strength.’”

He criticised Pakistan’s deceit during efforts to maintain peace, saying, “Falsehood and terror were brought down to their knees by truth.”

Concluding his address, PM Modi said that the victory of Kargil was a national triumph.

“The victory of Kargil was not the victory of any government or any party. This victory belongs to the country; this victory is the heritage of the country. This is a festival of pride and self-respect of the country," he said, saluting the soldiers and conveying his best wishes to the country on the 25th anniversary of the Kargil victory.

Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brig B D Sharma, Union Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth, Chief of Defence Staff Gen Anil Chauhan, and the Chiefs of Army Staff of the three armed forces were also present on the occasion.
