Overloaded mini bus seized in Udhampur

Ramban, Jan 12: Traffic Police National Highway seized an overloaded mini bus and arrested its driver for endangering the lives of passengers on the Srinagar- Jammu National Highway at Jakhani, Udhampur on Friday.

The bus was carrying 44 passengers against the seating capacity of 16 passengers.

Official sources said a team of traffic police team of Udhampur led by DSP Traffic Udhampur Arun Jamwal and sector officer (SO) Jakheni, Udhampur intercepted the minibus bearing registration number JK14A -7537. They said during checking it was found that the bus was carrying 44 passengers against the seating capacity of 16 passengers.

They said the overloaded vehicle was heading towards Samroli from Udhampur and endangering human lives.

The vehicle was seized on the spot and the driver of the vehicle was arrested.

A case FIR 20 of 2024 under sections 279, and 336 IPC stands registered at Police Station Udhampur for further investigations.
