Over 37,000 Cr spent on NHs maintenance, creation of amenities in J&K in last 5 yrs
Jammu, Dec 5: Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) allocated Rs 37,978 Crore to J&K for the maintenance and development of National Highways in a phased manner during the past five years.
As per the statistics of the Ministry provided in the Parliament, the highest allocation, i.e, Rs 10,528 Cr for the purpose, was made in the year 2023-24 while in the year 2024-25, J&K received Rs 10,331 Cr.
Rs 2932 Cr were provided in the year 2020-21, while the allocation was Rs 6817 Cr in the year 2021-22 and Rs 7370 Cr in the year 2022-23.
The Ministry stated that there was almost full utilisation of the funds.
With regard to construction activities, the statistics revealed that the works pertaining to 248 kms of NH were awarded during the year 2020-21 followed by 287 kms of NH works in 2021-22; 120 kms in the year 2022-23; 244 kms in 2023-24 and 77 kms in the year 2024-25.
