The action was initiated after Police received a tip-off about a large quantity of trotters dumped by a dealer in two separate shops. The police then informed the Food Safety Department, which, along with revenue officials, raided both locations and recovered the rotten trotters dumped in freezers.

Assistant Commissioner, Food Safety Department Kupwara Rafi Ahmad, told Greater Kashmir that a successful operation was jointly carried out by Food Safety Department, Police and revenue officials which led to the seizure of over 18 quintals of rotten trotters. "We received a tip-off from Police that a person has dumped huge quantity of trotters at two separate locations, following which we jointly carried out a raid on both the locations and discovered that over 18 quintals of trotters were dumped in freezers. All of it was seized and later destroyed with the assistance of the Municipal Council Kupwara," he said.

Rafi said that the department was actively monitoring meat supplies across the district. "Few days before, we seized seven quintals of rotten kebabs which were transported from Budgam to Kupwara," he revealed. He assured that the drive will remain continue across the district and warned that no one will be allowed to compromise public health whatsoever. He appealed public to report about those meat-sellers involved in such practices so that strict action can be initiated against them.
