Our Alumni Shines as Sun
Global Annual Alumni Meet - SANGAM 2025 (Students Alumni Networking for Growth, Aspiration, and Monitoring) will be held on 10-11 October 2025 at NIT Srinagar. This flagship event is dedicated to celebrating the legacy of our alumni, strengthening their connection with their alma mater, and creating new opportunities for collaboration with industry, academia, and government institutions. With active participation expected from alumni in leadership positions across diverse sectors, along with faculty and students, the meet will serve as a unique platform for knowledge exchange, mentorship, and networking.
When alumni share their journeys and experiences, they not only rekindle cherished bonds but also inspire new ones. We at NIT Srinagar, believe that strong alumni relations enhance institutional growth, often translating into scholarships, partnerships, and support that will benefit us for years to come. For the first time in the history of alumni meets, office of Dean Alumni & International Affairs, NIT Srinagar is introducing a set of purpose-driven initiatives designed to transform alumni engagement from a ceremonial reunion into a catalyst for growth, collaboration, and societal impact. It is my privilege to present, with great pride and respect, an unprecedented five initiative for SANGAM 2025.
Alumni Back to Classroom (ABC)
This initiative opens the doors of our classrooms to distinguished alumni, allowing them to share their professional insights, real-world experiences, and practical wisdom directly with students and faculty round the year. Aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, it aims to bridge the academia– industry gap in a meaningful way. SANGAM serves as a unique alumni–student mixer, where aspiring graduates can interact with professionals, explore industry trends, and identify the skills needed to succeed in their chosen fields. For many students, these interactions act as icebreakers that evolve into mentorships, helping them find role models and career guides among their seniors. Departmental coordinators will work with alumni to curate impactful sessions that inspire, guide, and empower the next generation. The first phase of EALS will be launched during SANGAM 2025, with an additional provision— under institutional policy—for participating alumni to offer a one-credit evening course. By bringing fresh perspectives as former students, alumni can also provide valuable suggestions for enhancing academic programs, ensuring they remain relevant to current and future learners.
A part of Eminent Alumni Lecture Series (EALS) will commence from 18th of August, 2025 (afternoon) with a Seminar on ―GRIHA Certification for Green Buildings jointly organized by Indian Building Congress (IBC) and Alumni Association with a robust coordination from Er Aamir Ali, Vice President of Alumni association and Students Association of Civil Engineering Department. The two distinguished speakers are Er B A Dar, Managing Director JK Green Technologies and Er S Qadir, Head System Engineer, Qatar Energy, both being the distinguished Alumni of REC/NIT Srinagar. It is open to all and is in tune with Education Policy NEP 2020.
Hand-Holding Abhiyan (HHA)
One of the greatest strengths of alumni meets lies in the mentorship and career opportunities they create for students. With their vast professional networks, alumni can play a pivotal role in opening doors for their younger counterparts. Through the Hand-Holding Abhiyan (HHA), we appeal to our alumni community to extend guidance, mentorship, referrals, and even direct opportunities to our final-year students, many of whom, despite their talent and determination, face challenges in today’s competitive job market. Such support at this defining stage of a young graduate’s life can be life-changing and will be remembered with deep gratitude.
We are planning to have regular alumni–student engagements which will further sustain this relationship, ensuring a vibrant cycle of support, inspiration, and shared growth. We initiated this program for our recent pass outs, who have been advised to sharpen skills and we are expecting an encouraging response for HHA from our Alumni spared across the globe. Er Rajat, a distinguished Alumnus who is working with Good Governance Project of Govt of India has been on job to refine this initiative for its maximum benefit. We believe that Alumni meets are more than reunions they are avenues to reignite lifelong connections, foster mentorship, and build bridges for future generations.
Start-up Ecosystem Empowerment
Many of our alumni have distinguished themselves as successful entrepreneurs, building ventures that inspire future innovators. To harness this spirit, SANGAM 2025 will feature a dedicated Start-up Ecosystem Session, organized in collaboration with the MSME Department, Government of J&K. This initiative will bring together like-minded alumni and aspiring student entrepreneurs on a common platform to exchange insights, share experiences, and explore industry trends. Such focused networking not only fosters new ideas and collaborations but also provides students with direct exposure to the entrepreneurial mind-set. Led by a distinguished alumnus, the session will ignite entrepreneurial aspirations among students, build confidence in pursuing start-up ventures, and strengthen the culture of innovation-driven enterprise at
NIT Srinagar. This effort also aligns with national initiatives like the Smart India Hackathon, ensuring our students are at the forefront of India’s innovation journey.
More so, dedicated networking sessions—particularly with faculty—will focus on identifying thrust areas of interdisciplinary research and fostering collaborations with leading institutions and universities. These initiatives will directly benefit our UG and PG students engaged in innovative projects, aligning with the vision of experiential and application-oriented learning. By creating structured opportunities for dialogue and partnership, alumni meets not only enhance academic and research outcomes but also strengthen alumni engagement, ensuring consistent communication, mutual support, and a lasting connection with the alma mater.
- Bridges & Beacons (B & B)
We are proud to announce the launch of the inaugural edition of Bridges & Beacons — A Chronicle of NIT Srinagar Alumni, to be released during SANGAM 2025. More than just a magazine, Bridges & Beacons will serve as a living bridge between the past and the present, renewing lifelong bonds with our alma mater while celebrating stories of excellence, resilience, and service from our alumni community. We warmly invite our alumni to contribute articles, short stories, or thought pieces on contemporary issues, as well as share their academic, professional, and entrepreneurial journeys. These contributions will not only enrich our collective database but also inspire current and future generations of NIT Srinagar.
