Other politicians were enjoying when I was in jail: Er Rashid

Kupwara, Sep 24: Member Parlaiment and Awami Ittehad Party (AIP)  chief Er Rashid today  said that when other politicians in Kashmir were enjoying like anything, he was going through a lot of hardships for last five years in Tihar Jail.

He was talking to media after addressing a gathering of people at  Main Chowk Handwara.

Rashid said that NC President Dr Farooq Abdullah should stop labeling people as BJP agents. "How can he label people as BJP agents when his party is getting support from Altaf Bukhari in Budgam. They stand exposed now because people have not forgotten my sacrifice of being incarcerated in Tihar jail for over five years. Let them raise questions against me but people have given their verdict in Parliament election by ensuring my win with a huge margin. It is like belittling myself by responding to Dr Farooq Abdullah’s allegations" he said.

To a question, Rashid said that even Mahatma Gandhi and Nelson Mandela went to jail and there was nothing wrong in going to jail. "I was in jail for the rights of people, the Kashmir issue will not be resolved unless sacrifices are not being extended," he said.

To a question about his interim bail, MP for north Kashmir said that those raising questions about his bail were losing ground. "Even Arvind Kejriwal was granted bail for one month before elections so what was wrong if I too was granted bail" he added.
