Operation Sindoor showcased jointness among armed forces: Rajnath Singh

New Delhi, Oct 22: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Wednesday said Operation Sindoor demonstrated “extraordinary jointness and integration” among India’s three armed services, reaffirming the government’s resolve to develop coordinated and adaptive defence strategies in response to evolving global threats.

Speaking at the launch of a book titled “Civil–Military Fusion as a Metric of National Power and Comprehensive Security” by Lt Gen Raj Shukla (Retd), Rajnath Singh said traditional defence outlooks were inadequate in an era of hybrid and asymmetrical warfare. He described the creation of the Chief of Defence Staff post as a milestone in strengthening inter-service coordination.

“The entire world witnessed the result of this jointness during Operation Sindoor. Pakistan is still recuperating from the severe blow dealt by our Armed Forces,” he said.

Rajnath Singh underlined the importance of civil-military fusion as a strategic enabler linking industry, academia, and the defence sector to boost innovation and self-reliance.

He noted that India’s domestic defence production had risen from Rs 46,000 crore a decade ago to Rs 1.51 lakh crore, with the private sector contributing Rs 33,000 crore.

Chief of Defence Staff Gen Anil Chauhan, Army Chief Gen Upendra Dwivedi, and senior officials attended the event.
