Operation Kali | GOC 15 Corps visits Uri, meets troops

Srinagar, Nov 17: General Officer Commanding (GOC) 15 Corps, Lieutenant General Rajiv Ghai Friday visited the Uri sector of Baramulla district and met troops who were involved in Operation Kali in which two terrorists were killed on Wednesday.

On Wednesday, two terrorists were killed after the Army and J&K Police foiled an infiltration bid in the Uri sector of Baramulla in north Kashmir.

The bid on a forward post in Kali, Uri along the Line of Control (LoC) on Wednesday after joint parties challenged a group of terrorists who were trying to infiltrate.

Police said that an intense search operation in the area was underway.

The Army on Thursday said that during this operation they eliminated Bashir Ahmad Malik who had been involved in pushing the terrorists and supporting the infiltration to this side of the LoC for the past three decades.

The Army had said that Bashir was an important terrorist launch commander for terror organisations from Leepa in the north to the areas in PoK opposite Rajouri.

Lt Gen Ghai has been visiting the troops everywhere in Kashmir where the operations take place.
