One dies, two others injured in dumper-sumo collision in Baramulla

Srinagar, July 07: A tragic road accident occurred on Monday afternoon near the petrol pump in Sheeri, Baramulla, involving a Dumper and a Tata Sumo, resulting in the death of one person and injured two others.

The Dumper was coming from Uri, while the Tata Sumo was headed toward Uri from Baramulla when the two vehicles collided head-on near Sheeri, news agency JKNS quoted officials as saying.

They said in the impact one person identified as Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din, son of Ghulam Mohammad, resident of Trekanjal Boniyar died on spot, while two others sustained minor injuries and were provided first aid.

Police from Police Station Sheeri immediately reached the site and took control of the situation. The dumper driver was arrested on the spot and the vehicle was also seized as part of the ongoing investigation.

The cause of the collision is being probed and a case has been registered, officials added.
