One dies, two injured as fruit-laden truck plunges into gorge on NH-44 near Nachilana
Banihal, Nov 18: One person died and two others were injured after an apple-laden truck skidded off the Jammu–Srinagar National Highway and fell into a deep gorge near Nachilana under Police Station Ramsoo on Tuesday evening.
Police officials said that the truck bearing registration number JK09B-2814 was on its way from Srinagar to Jammu when it slipped off the road and plunged into Nallah Bishlari near Nachilana on NH 44. They said soon after the accident, locals of Nachilana , police teams from Ramsoo, army personnel from the nearby 23 RR camp, NGO Banihal volunteers, and the Himalayan QRT rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation.
Police said the rescue teams faced tough conditions in the cold waters of Nallah Bishlari, and the operation continued for nearly an hour. One person was found dead on the spot, while two others were rescued with injuries. The injured were shifted to medical facility at 23 RR Nachilana.
Meanwhile police identified the dead as Abdul Majeed Lon (48), son of Mohammad Maqbool Lone from Kupwara district.
