In a show of unwavering commitment to his duty of voting, a groom in the Kangan area of Ganderbal district headed to a polling station to exercise his franchise. Despite the festivity of his wedding ceremony at home, the groom, with a sense of civic responsibility, made it a point to cast his vote on his special day, sending a powerful message about the importance of participating in the electoral process.

Muhammad Ashraf, who was sporting his wedding dress, cast his vote at a polling station in the Kangan area of Ganderbal district.

“One should not waste his or her vote,” Ashraf said.  “This is our duty to exercise our franchise and choose our representatives. So, I am here to cast my vote.”

He said, “Being a voting day today, it is prize-worthy to select a candidate who frames policies of development and employment for the people and the country.”

“One should not waste his vote,” Ashraf said.

He said that he was impressed by an initiative that had been taken by the district administration of Ganderbal under the Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Programme (SVEEP).

“It is due to this initiative that I am here to exercise my franchise in favour of a candidate who will stand up for the people and the country,” Ashraf said.

The twin assembly constituencies of Kangan and Ganderbal of Ganderbal district are part of the Srinagar parliamentary constituency where polling was held in the fourth phase of Lok Sabha polls.
