Srinagar, Sep 20: Apni Party leader Muntazir Mohiuddin Friday said that the decision of National Conference (NC) Vice President Omar Abdullah to contest from Budgam put a spotlight on the constituency.
Talking to reporters on the sidelines of a door-to-door campaign held by Apni Party President Altaf Bukhari in the Channapora constituency, Muntazir Mohiuddin said that he decided to withdraw his form following Omar Abdullah's decision to contest to avoid division of votes.
“Budgam constituency became a high-profile constituency with the entry of Omar Abdullah in the election fray. I consulted my party colleagues and decided that Omar’s voice is effective and powerful,” he said.
Mohuiddin said that if Abdullah wins elections from Budgam constituency then all the problems faced by the people for the last three decades will be solved.
“Presently, everything has been snatched from us and at this moment we need a strong, powerful, and effective voice to address our issues. For this Omar Abdullah is the best choice for the people,” he said.
The NC Vice President Omar Abdullah is contesting assembly elections from two constituencies –Ganderbal and Budgam.
“I decided to withdraw my form so that there will be no division of votes in the constituency and they will get a chance to vote for their favourite leaders who will solve their problems,” Mohiuddin said.
About the election campaign of the Apni Party, he said that they have started a door-to-door campaign for their party president who is contesting from the Channapora constituency and appealing to people to vote for Bukhari.

Meanwhile, Omar Abdullah continued his election campaign in Budgam on Friday wherein Member of Parliament (MP) Aga Ruhulla was accompanying him.
Addressing the people, Ruhullah asked people to vote wisely considering the prevailing situation in Kashmir.
“Our rights have been snatched and we are struggling and fighting for what was snatched from us. Vote for Omar Abdullah because our party has started a fight to get back our rights,” he said
