Omar mocks fair-weather friends
Srinagar, Oct 19: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah Saturday mocked the people who maintained distance from him during the past 5 years.
Addressing a function here, Omar said, “Maklauv, napp loo rasta (It’s over, take a different path). Those people who didn’t even respond to my greetings for 5 years are making every effort to remain in touch with me now.
“When I wake up in the morning, I find my phone flooded with messages like ‘Good Morning Sir’. When I see my phone at 1 pm there are messages, ‘Sir what you had for lunch’. At 8 pm: ‘What you had for dinner, should I send something.’ At 10 pm: ‘Good night sir, please sleep well.’”
Omar was sworn in as the chief minister of J&K earlier this week, the first elected government in Jammu and Kashmir since 2019 when Article 370 was abrogated.
Lt Governor Manoj Sinha administered the oath of office and secrecy to Omar, who took over as chief minister for a second term.
