Omar Abdullah runs in Kashmir Marathon, hopes valley gains global recognition
Srinagar, Oct 20: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah Sunday participated in Kahmir Marathon and said he wants to see Kashmir gain a global recognition.
"I hope that one day it will be as famous as the world’s most renowned marathons. I want to see Jammu and Kashmir on the global map for such events," he said.
The CM said he wasn't expecting to complete half of the marathon as he has never run more than 13kms. "But running alongside other participants gave me courage and motivation to finish," he said as he completed the 21-kms long marathon.
I’m so damn pleased with myself today. I completed the Kashmir Half Marathon - 21 KM at an average pace of 5 min 54 sec per KM. I’ve never run more than 13 KM in my life & that too only ever once. Today I just kept going, propelled by the enthusiasm of other amateur runners like… pic.twitter.com/yZVjFz5oJ4
