Jammu, Jan 3: Senior BJP leader and Prabhari for District Doda, Pawan Sharma, has criticised Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for prioritising the concerns of a terrorist’s son over those of a terrorist’s victim.

According to a press note, this criticism comes amidst Omar Abdullah’s statement expressing concern for the son of a terrorist and those who have supported terrorism in Kashmir. Sharma condemned Abdullah’s stance, emphasising the importance of empathy towards the victims of terrorism rather than their perpetrators.

Sharma emphasised that Abdullah’s statement is a stark reminder of the National Conference leader’s priorities, which appear to be skewed in favoir of those who have perpetuated violence and terror in the region. By contrast, the victims of terrorism and their families continue to suffer in silence, he added.

“Sharma’s condemnation is part of a broader narrative of political tensions in J&K. The region has witnessed significant developments in recent times, under the astute leadership of PM Narendra Modi at the Centre, including the launch of various developmental projects and initiatives aimed at promoting peace and stability in the region,” the press release said.

BJP leader further remarked, “The NC government has been in power for almost three months, but their performance has been disappointing across the board. They have failed to deliver on their manifesto promises, which included 12 free gas cylinders, 200 units of free electricity, 10 kgs rice, one lakh jobs, and regularising daily wagers,”

Sharma denounced the Chief Minister for making a U-turn on his commitments. “U-turns have been a long-standing tradition of Abdullah and NC governments. In opposition, they promised to dispose of electricity meters in the Tawi and Jhelum rivers. Now, in power, they assert that uninterrupted electricity will be supplied only upon achieving 100 percent metering,” he noted.
