Srinagar, Apr 28:  In a significant initiative toward the holistic development of students, the College of Nursing at AIIMS Jammu recently completed a comprehensive 70-lecture series on Personality Development, Language Proficiency, and Communication Skills.

The programme was designed to equip nursing students with essential soft skills critical for success in today's evolving healthcare landscape.

The sessions were conducted by  Rajesh Rathore, Principal of JK Public School Jammu, a respected educationist known for his engaging and insightful teaching approach. Through interactive discussions and practical examples, Rathore guided students in building confidence and developing effective communication strategies that complement their academic knowledge.

While pursuing their core curriculum in Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, and Nursing Foundation, students received targeted training in leadership, empathy, teamwork, and emotional intelligence—competencies essential for well-rounded healthcare professionals.

The series concluded on April 26, with an interactive session featuring student participation through role-plays, extempore presentations, and discussions that demonstrated their growth throughout the program.

Prof. (Dr.) Shakti Kumar Gupta, Executive Director and CEO of AIIMS Jammu, attended the closing ceremony and delivered an inspiring address. He emphasised the importance of innovative thinking and undergraduate research participation, while encouraging students to engage in community outreach programmes.

Dr Gupta highlighted that effective healthcare extends beyond hospital settings and into communities, requiring a balance of technical expertise with strong interpersonal skills. He stressed that empathy, leadership, and emotional intelligence are as vital as medical knowledge for providing comprehensive patient care, and urged students to commit to lifelong learning and service.
