Nursery Growers discuss reforms with Horticulture officials

Srinagar, Apr 20: Private nursery growers in Kashmir engaged in a constructive dialogue with Director of Horticulture ZA Bhat, Chief Horticulture Officer, Srinagar Nursery Registration Officer MY Malik, and other department officials. The meeting aimed to address critical amendments needed in the Nursery Registration Act.

A statement said that the growers expressed concerns and proposed changes to improve the regulatory framework governing nursery operations. Key issues discussed included limited online access for registration, registration fees, validity period of registration, documentation requirements, and availability of true-to-type fruit plants.

Director Bhat assured the growers of the department's commitment to resolving the highlighted issues and fostering an enabling environment for the nursery industry. He emphasised the importance of producing high-quality planting material to meet the demands of Jammu and Kashmir and other states.
