Notorious drug smuggler booked under NDPS Act in Budgam

Budgam, Dec 23: Acting tough against the drug peddlers and to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police have booked a notorious drug smuggler under PIT NDPS Act in Budgam.

A notorious drug smuggler, Ashfaq Rehman Khan of Sheikhpora Budgam has been booked under PIT-NDPS Act after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent authority.

It is pertinent to mention here that many cases are registered against the drug smuggler, besides his involvement in promoting drug trade by supplying drugs to local youth of district Budgam.

Notably, 14 drug peddlers have been booked under the PIT NDPS Act during the current year in Budgam district. Besides, Police in Budgam have registered 77 cases related to the NDPS Act and arrested 127 persons during the current year.

“Community members have appreciated the role of Police for their action against the drug peddlers. Consistent actions of Police against the drug peddlers should reassure the community members that J&K police is making all efforts to keep our society free from drug abuse,” police said.
