Noted poet Sultan-ul-Haque’s demise condoled

Srinagar, Dec 16: Ahad Zargar Memorial Foundation Saturday condoled the demise of famous poet Sultan-ul-Haque Shaheedi.

In a statement issued here, noted poet and chairman of the foundation Zareef Ahmad Zareef paid rich tributes to the poet during a condolence meeting at Narwara.

The members of the foundation also participated in his Nimaz-e-Jinaza.

“Sultan-ul-Haque made an immense contribution to Kashmiri literature. He has translated works of Alama Iqbal, Mahjoor, and Hali,” Zareef said.

He said that the congregation Fateh Khawani of the poet will be held at 10:30 am on Tuesday (December 18) at his ancestral graveyard Moulvi Makbar at Lal Bazaar.

President Tehreek-i-Baqaie Urdu Kashmir Chapter, Imdad Saqi also condoled the demise of Sultan-ul-Haque saying, “We have lost a luminary whose brilliance will inspire a generation of poets and writers.”

He said Sultan ul Haque’s impact resonates profoundly within Kashmir's literary realm.

“His profound contributions include eloquently translating exquisite Arabic, Persian and Urdu poems into the Kashmiri language, enriching the cultural tapestry of the region,” Saqi said.
