Not everyone in J&K is a terrorist: CM Omar on Delhi blast case
Jammu, Nov 13: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday said that not every citizen of Jammu and Kashmir is associated with terrorism, adding that viewing every Kashmiri with suspicion makes it difficult to keep people on the right path.
Speaking to reporters in Jammu, Omar, as per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), said he had condemned the Red Fort blast on the very first day.
“No amount of condemnation for this incident is enough. The brutal killing of innocent people in this manner is unacceptable — no religion allows such acts. The investigation is underway, and all culprits must be punished,” he said.
The Chief Minister reiterated that not every person in Jammu and Kashmir is involved in terrorism.
“These are just a few individuals who have always tried to disrupt peace and brotherhood here,” he added.
Omar said that generalising or stigmatising an entire community based on the actions of a few is deeply harmful.
“Unfortunately, when we start looking at every person in Jammu and Kashmir — especially every Kashmiri Muslim — with suspicion and portray them as terrorists, it becomes very difficult to keep people on the right path,” he said.
He emphasised that while those responsible for the Delhi blast must face strict punishment, innocent people should not be harassed.
“Yes, sometimes educated people are found involved in such acts, but that does not mean everyone is guilty. Innocent people must be kept out of this,” Omar said.
