Mirgund (Budgam), Oct 23: BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh on Thursday launched a sharp attack on Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and the National Conference, accusing them of betraying the trust of Jammu and Kashmir voters and failing to fulfill election promises.

Addressing a public rally in Budgam in support of BJP candidate Aga Syed Mohsin, Chugh said Omar Abdullah had “abandoned” the constituency after winning the last election.

“The people of Budgam still remember how Omar Abdullah left the constituency on God’s mercy after winning. He did not even visit once to thank the voters who ensured his victory,” Chugh said. “Such arrogance and detachment from the people will now face a democratic answer — the BJP will take revenge through the ballot.”

Chugh accused the Omar-led government of making “hollow promises” and delivering “zero results” during its tenure. “Not a single commitment from the National Conference’s manifesto has been fulfilled. The government failed to act on employment generation, infrastructure, and tourism. When asked about tourism, Omar Abdullah talks about his trips to Mumbai and Delhi, but has he ever sat with the people of Kashmir to hear their struggles?” he asked.

Targeting the Abdullah family, Chugh alleged that the NC has been built on dynasty politics and self-interest. “From Sheikh Abdullah to Farooq Abdullah to Omar Abdullah — every generation of this family has treated Jammu and Kashmir as a personal estate,” he said.

“Each era under their leadership has been marked by betrayal, nepotism, and neglect. And now, preparations are underway to launch the next generation. The people of J&K are fed up with this dynastic rule.”

In contrast, Chugh said the BJP, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has transformed governance in Jammu and Kashmir. He highlighted what he described as visible improvements in development, youth empowerment, and tourism.

“Under Modi ji’s leadership, every section of society is getting equal benefits. Development has reached villages, the youth are shining at international platforms in sports, and tourism is witnessing record growth,” he asserted.

Calling on the people of Budgam to support BJP candidate Aga Syed Mohsin, Chugh said the election is an opportunity to “end decades of dynastic misrule.” “This election is not just about one seat; it’s about the future of Budgam and Jammu and Kashmir. The BJP stands for transparent governance, genuine development, and dignity for every citizen,” he said.
