Northern Railway runs 2 special trains from Jammu
Jammu, Aug 30: The Jammu (Railway) Division of Northern Railway on Saturday operated two special trains to facilitate stranded pilgrims and passengers.
Meanwhile, due to misalignment on Bridge-17, normal rail traffic will continue to remain suspended on August 31 as well, between Kathua and Madhopur (Punjab), with over 50 trains cancelled temporarily.
“51 trains will remain temporarily cancelled; one train—the Varanasi Jammu Tawi Express—will short-terminate at Ambala Cantt Junction, while two other trains, i.e., the Jammu Tawi-Varanasi Express and the Jammu Tawi-Kolkata Terminal Express, will short-originate from Ambala Cantt Junction,” Senior Division Commercial Manager of the Jammu Railway Division Uchit Singhal said.
51 cancelled trains included 27 originating from Jammu, Udhampur, and Katra and 21 others terminating at these destinations.
With regard to two special trains that operated from Jammu on Saturday (August 30), Singhal informed that the first special train was Jammu-DADN (Mhow) via Ludhiana-New Delhi-Gwalior-Bhopal with 2 coaches of 2nd AC, 1 coach of first AC, 4 coaches of 3rd AC, 2 coaches of 3rd AC economy, 6 sleeper and 4 general coaches.
“It departed from Jammu at 3.15 pm with a total of 674 passengers, including 146 AC, 268 sleeper and 260 general,” he said.
The second special train was Jammu-Chhapra via Ludhiana-Moradabad-Gonda-Basti with 1 coach of 2nd AC, 10 coaches of 3rd AC economy, 5 sleeper and 4 general coaches. It departed from Jammu at 5.15 pm.
About the status of the Katra-Srinagar-Katra Vande Bharat Express, Singhal said that the train services were proceeding normally between Katra and Srinagar.
“The passenger stuck up due to landslides or cloudbursts can use these services between Katra-Srinagar-Katra,” he said.
