Northern Commander visits Victor, Kilo Force Hqrs; reviews operational preparedness
Srinagar, Feb 24: General Officer Commanding-in-Chief (GOC-in-C), Northern Command, Lt Gen M V Suchindra Kumar Saturday emphasised the importance of maintaining operational tempo in Kashmir.
His statement comes a day after meeting Director General of Police (DGP) Rashmi Ranjan Swain.
Accompanied by Chinar Corps Commander, Lt Gen Rajiv Ghai, Lt Gen Kumar visited the Awantipora-based Victor Force and Sharifabad-based Kilo Force, which are part of the counter-insurgency grid under the Srinagar-based 15 Corps.
During his visit, Lt Gen Kumar was briefed on various aspects of the counter-terrorist grid, soldier-citizen connect, and operational preparedness.
The Northern Army Commander praised the operational readiness of the formations and urged all ranks to sustain the operational tempo.

The visit marks Lt Gen Kumar’s first visit to Kashmir since assuming office as the GOC-in-C Northern Command of the Army on February 19.
During his stay, he conducted extensive reviews of the security along the Line of Control (LoC) and in Kashmir’s hinterland.
Lt Gen Kumar also visited forward posts along the LoC in Kupwara and Baramulla districts where he interacted with soldiers.
On Friday, he held a meeting with DGP R R Swain and other senior security officials to discuss security preparations for the upcoming months.
Meanwhile, GOC 15 Corps Lt Gen Rajiv Ghai visited Pattan in Baramulla and interacted with the participants of the ‘Sahi Raasta’ programme.
