Srinagar, Oct 24: In the wake of heightened security concerns following recent terror incidents in Kashmir, Lieutenant General M V Suchindra Kumar, Army Commander of the Northern Command visited the Shalateng garrison under the Counter Insurgency Force (Kilo) to assess the security situation.

He was accompanied by the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Chinar Corps Lt Gen Prashant Srivastava, underscoring the Army’s commitment to maintaining peace and stability in the region.

This visit comes as Kashmir witnesses a resurgence of militant activities.

Security forces have been on high alert, with counter-terror operations intensifying across north and south Kashmir.

The Army Commander’s visit to the strategically significant Shalateng Garrison, which oversees key areas prone to militant infiltration, reflects the need for continuous vigilance.

During his address to the troops stationed at the garrison, Lt Gen Kumar commended their professionalism and dedication, urging them to remain vigilant in the face of evolving security challenges.

He reiterated the importance of upholding the highest standards of military discipline and operational readiness, emphasising the need to remain steadfast in counter-terrorism operations.

The Shalateng Garrison plays a critical role in Kashmir's counter-insurgency grid, monitoring and controlling movement in areas that are known for militant activity.

As part of the CIF Kilo Force, it serves as a forward base for operations against militant networks operating in north Kashmir.
