Srinagar, July 8: Army Commander of Northern Command, Lt Gen M V Suchindra Kumar reviewed the extensive logistics and security preparedness for the ongoing Amarnath Yatra.

The high-level briefing covered various aspects including security measures, medical response, and infrastructure readiness to ensure the safety and well-being of the yatris.

Sources in the Army said that the Army Commander was thoroughly briefed on the multi-layered security arrangements put in place along the yatra route.

This year’s yatra sees an increased deployment of security personnel, advanced surveillance systems, and regular patrols to prevent any untoward incidents.

The inter-agency coordination between the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and other security agencies has been highly effective in maintaining peace and security.

Lt Gen Kumar expressed his appreciation for the seamless synergy between various agencies involved in the yatra management.

He acknowledged the collective efforts that have been put in to ensure the safety and convenience of the yatris.

“The inter-agency cooperation and the dedication of our personnel are commendable. Every effort is being made to ensure a safe and spiritually fulfilling yatra for all devotees," Lt Gen Kumar said.

Accompanied by Chinar Corps Commander, Lt Gen Rajiv Ghai, the Northern Commander also visited units deployed in the Counter Terrorism Grid to review the security setup amid recent successful operations in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district.

During the visit, Lt Gen Kumar interacted with the troops, commending their efforts in the recent encounters.

He acknowledged their dedication and the successful outcomes of the operations that have significantly contributed to maintaining peace and security in the region.

The Army Commander paid homage to the fallen soldiers, honouring their sacrifice in the fight against terrorism.

He emphasised the importance of remaining in a high state of operational readiness to meet all forthcoming challenges, highlighting the critical role of the troops in ensuring the safety and security of the local population.
