Northern Command investiture ceremony at Prayagraj on March 21
Jammu, Mar 15: Indian Army's Northern Command will honour its gallant and distinguished soldiers and units at a grand investiture ceremony to be held at Prayagraj Military Station, Uttar Pradesh on March 21, 2024.
Lt Gen M V Suchindra Kumar, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief (GOC-in-C), Northern Command would felicitate the officers and soldiers of the Indian army with gallantry and distinguished service awards for their acts of bravery beyond the call of duty and distinguished service to the nation for their bravery, units would be conferred with GOC-in-C unit appreciation in recognition of their exceptional professionalism and unparalleled achievements.
PRO Defence Lt Col Suneel Bartwal said, “The awardees will be felicitated for their exceptional bravery, commendable devotion to duty and distinguished service to the nation. The bravery and sacrifices of the soldiers serving in the Northern Command, highlight their resilience, dedication, and unwavering commitment to protecting their homeland.”
Northern Command is the most operationally active Command of the Indian Army and is at the forefront of the nation's efforts to counter the most serious challenge to her security, the scourge of terrorism.
A crucial military formation tasked with safeguarding India's northern borders, it has a storied history marked by numerous achievements like ‘Operation Meghdoot’; the Kargil War; counter-terrorism operations; cross-border surgical strikes; humanitarian assistance, disaster relief operations and peacekeeping missions.
“The troops of the Command are “always in combat”, aptly reflecting the motto of the Northern Command. The achievements showcase the Northern Command's vital role in safeguarding India's national interests, protecting its borders, and upholding its sovereignty. The dedication, valour, and professionalism of the soldiers serving in the Northern Command remain instrumental in ensuring the security and well-being of the nation,” Lt Col Bartwal said.
“All the invitees will get to know the gallantry of the Indian army, their valour knows no bounds, their sacrifices unspoken but deeply felt. They are the unsung heroes of the Northern Command, whose bravery echoes through the valleys and reverberates across the nation and Prayagraj Station is bestowed with this responsibility due to its rich culture and tradition,” PRO Defence said.
A large number of military personnel, distinguished dignitaries and proud families of the award winners will be attending the ceremony.
